- Those who guard their lips preserve their lives,
but those who speak rashly will come to ruin. - Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
who daily bears our burdens. - What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
- But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love. - Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice. - Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.
- Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
- Blessed are those who keep his statutes
and seek him with all their heart. - Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted. - The one who gets wisdom loves life;
the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper. - But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
- Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
- I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
- Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
- Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute. - Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
- You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
- For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
- But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
- Because I rescued the poor who cried for help,
and the fatherless who had none to assist them.
The one who was dying blessed me;
I made the widow’s heart sing. - Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
- Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”
- Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the Lord. - But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
