- Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”
- The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right,
and his ears are open to their prayers.
But the Lord turns his face
against those who do evil. - But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
- What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man.
- He reveals deep and mysterious things
and knows what lies hidden in darkness,
though he is surrounded by light. - Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
- For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.
- For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.
- Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil;
joy fills hearts that are planning peace! - Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good?
- Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”
- For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
- “All right, you may test him,” the Lord said to Satan. “Do whatever you want with everything he possesses, but don’t harm him physically.” So Satan left the Lord’s presence.
- Then keep your tongue from speaking evil
and your lips from telling lies! - Don’t get sidetracked;
keep your feet from following evil. - Don’t be like your ancestors who would not listen or pay attention when the earlier prophets said to them, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Turn from your evil ways, and stop all your evil practices.’
- Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.
- God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
- It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
- You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.
- Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one.
- When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong.
- Then the Lord God said, “Look, the human beings have become like us, knowing both good and evil. What if they reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, and eat it? Then they will live forever!” So the Lord God banished them from the Garden of Eden, and he sent Adam out to cultivate the ground from which he had been made.
- Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
