Joy (2/2)

When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.
I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.
I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches.

Sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything. Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.
Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.”
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this!

My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad indeed. My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice!
But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves. But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.
The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.
However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.
Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy.Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil; joy fills hearts that are planning peace!
Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”.Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”
I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.
Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. And the people’s joy has dried up with them.
