- He that hideth hatred with lying lips,
and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool. - Excellent speech becometh not a fool:
much less do lying lips a prince. - A fool despiseth his father's instruction:
but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. - The wise in heart will receive commandments:
but a prating fool shall fall. - It is an honour for a man to cease from strife:
but every fool will be meddling. - A fool uttereth all his mind:
but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. - A fool's lips enter into contention,
and his mouth calleth for strokes. - A fool hath no delight in understanding,
but that his heart may discover itself. - A fool's wrath is presently known:
but a prudent man covereth shame. - The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious;
but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. - Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise:
and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. - Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
- For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
- A wise son maketh a glad father:
but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. - And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.
- The tongue of the just is as choice silver:
the heart of the wicked is little worth. - He that walketh with wise men shall be wise:
but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge:
but fools despise wisdom and instruction. - But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
- See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
- When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
- And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
