- For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. - Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
- But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

giving light to the eyes. - Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
- The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid? - This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.
- One thing I ask from the Lord,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple. - But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
