For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. | For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. |
Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O Lord. | Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good. |

For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. | Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. |
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. | Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” |
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. | Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. |
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. | For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. | “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. |
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. | Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. |
The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. | The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. |
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. | Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. |
Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. | Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. |
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? | What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? |
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. | There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. |
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. | Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. |
The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot. | The name of the righteous is used in blessings, but the name of the wicked will rot. |
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil. | Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. |
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. | “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” |
We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments. | We have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. |
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. | So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. |
And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity. | If anyone sins and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands, even though they do not know it, they are guilty and will be held responsible. |
And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing. | When anyone becomes aware that they are guilty in any of these matters, they must confess in what way they have sinned. |
I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. | Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. |
I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. | I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. |
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. | Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people. |
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. | Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame. |
