Righteousness (3/5)

  • For the Lord is our judge;
    the Lord is our lawgiver;
    the Lord is our king;
    he will save us.
  • I will greatly rejoice in the Lord;
    my soul shall exult in my God,
    for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation;
    he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
    as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress,
    and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
  • For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
  • The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
    but the mouth of the wicked, what is perverse.
  • In you, O Lord, do I take refuge;
    let me never be put to shame;
    in your righteousness deliver me!
  • Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
  • He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
  • “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
  • Thus says the Lord of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.
  • You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
  • The Lord is righteous in all his ways
    and kind in all his works.
  • Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you,
    and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.
    For the Lord is a God of justice;
    blessed are all those who wait for him.
  • Do not envy a man of violence
    and do not choose any of his ways,
    for the devious person is an abomination to the Lord,
    but the upright are in his confidence.
  • Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
    but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
  • Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Good and upright is the Lord;
    therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
    He leads the humble in what is right,
    and teaches the humble his way.
  • So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.”
  • Train up a child in the way he should go;
    even when he is old he will not depart from it.
  • For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.
  • He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
    he is a shield to those who walk in integrity.
  • Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
    maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
  • Hear my prayer, O Lord;
    give ear to my pleas for mercy!
    In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
  • Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
    who walk in the law of the Lord!
  • But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.
  • For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.

My soul yearns for you in the night;
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
For when your judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.Next verse!With image
