Law (2/5)

  • And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
  • For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
  • For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
  • If you love Me, keep My commandments.
  • What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”
  • The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
  • And keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn.
  • For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
  • The wise in heart will receive commands,
But a prating fool will fall.
  • Judge not, that you be not judged.
  • Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
  • Great peace have those who love Your law,
And nothing causes them to stumble.
  • Blessed are the undefiled in the way,
Who walk in the law of the Lord!
  • But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
  • ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
  • Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
  • Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
    For this is man’s all.
  • My son, do not forget my law,
    But let your heart keep my commands;
For length of days and long life
And peace they will add to you.
  • He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul,
But he who is careless of his ways will die.
  • Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
  • Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
  • We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
  • He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.
  • Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
  • I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.

But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference.

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
