- Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
- Hope deferred maketh the heart sick:
but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. - I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
- I will never forget thy precepts:
for with them thou hast quickened me. - For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
- Ponder the path of thy feet,
and let all thy ways be established. - Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
- There is a way which seemeth right unto a man,
but the end thereof are the ways of death. - What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
- All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
- He that walketh uprightly walketh surely:
but he that perverteth his ways shall be known. - For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
- For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
- The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
- Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
- If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
- Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
- Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
- He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
- I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
- Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.
- Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
- Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
- For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh.
- The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof;
the world, and they that dwell therein.
Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings;
and the years of thy life shall be many.What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
