Bible Verses about Punishment

  • My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline
    or be weary of his reproof,
    for the Lord reproves him whom he loves,
    as a father the son in whom he delights.
  • Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
  • The prudent sees danger and hides himself,
    but the simple go on and suffer for it.
  • For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.
  • For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
  • If anyone sins, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, though he did not know it, then realizes his guilt, he shall bear his iniquity.
  • But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.
  • Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin.
  • There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
  • Behold, blessed is the one whom God reproves;
    therefore despise not the discipline of the Almighty.
  • You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
  • Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.
  • Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
  • Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,
    but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
  • No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.
  • But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.
  • There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
  • Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment.
  • Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
  • God settles the solitary in a home;
    he leads out the prisoners to prosperity,
    but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
  • The Lord watches over the sojourners;
    he upholds the widow and the fatherless,
    but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.
  • But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.
  • Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
  • Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,
    but righteousness delivers from death.
  • Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil.
