- For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
- My soul yearns for you in the night;
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
For when your judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. - Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
- The memory of the righteous is a blessing,
but the name of the wicked will rot. - We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
- Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from death. - I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.
- He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
- I have taught you the way of wisdom;
I have led you in the paths of uprightness. - Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
- Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
- I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
- But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.
My foot has held fast to his steps;
I have kept his way and have not turned aside. - For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord God; so turn, and live.
- Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him,
but the righteous shall live by his faith. - He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.
- The wicked borrows but does not pay back,
but the righteous is generous and gives. - Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
- Guarding the paths of justice
and watching over the way of his saints. - Let your eyes look directly forward,
and your gaze be straight before you. - The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
the heart of the wicked is of little worth. - There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?
- In the path of your judgments,
O Lord, we wait for you;
your name and remembrance
are the desire of our soul. - The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous. - Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
