- There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death. - For the Lord is our judge,
the Lord is our lawgiver,
the Lord is our king;
it is he who will save us. - I delight greatly in the Lord;
my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. - The lips of the righteous know what finds favor,
but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse. - In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
deliver me in your righteousness. - But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
- “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
- This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’
- “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.
- You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
- The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and faithful in all he does. - Do not envy the violent
or choose any of their ways.
For the Lord detests the perverse
but takes the upright into his confidence. - Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him! - Blessings crown the head of the righteous,
but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked. - Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.”
- Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
- For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
- Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way. - Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it. - He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. - Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
who walk according to the law of the Lord. - Lord, hear my prayer,
listen to my cry for mercy;
in your faithfulness and righteousness
come to my relief. - Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. - But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.
- But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.Next verse!With image
