For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? | For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? |
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth. | Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. |
The Lord makes poor and makes rich; he brings low, he also exalts. | The Lord makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up. |
Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving. | Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. |
When pride comes, then comes disgrace; but wisdom is with the humble. | Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. |
Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. | But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. |
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. | Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. |

Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. | Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. |
You shall keep my sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord. | You must keep my Sabbath days of rest and show reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord. |
Guarding the paths of justice and preserving the way of his faithful ones. | He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. |
All deeds are right in the sight of the doer, but the Lord weighs the heart. | People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart. |
