Fathers (2/4)

  • Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
  • A wise son brings joy to his father,
but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
  • But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
  • Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.
  • And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
  • This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’
  • And every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
  • As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.
  • Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
  • If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.
  • And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.
  • For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
  • Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
  • But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
  • Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
  • “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
  • Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
  • Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
  • Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
  • For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.
  • Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.
  • Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
  • Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
  • And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.
  • And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”

Bible verse of the day

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.

Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
