- Beloved,
let us love one another,
because love is from God.
Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. - Thus there are three things that endure: faith, hope, and love,
and the greatest of these is love. - No one has ever seen God,
but if we love one another,
God abides in us,
and his love is made complete in us. - I know how to live with little, and I know how to live with plenty. In any and all circumstances, I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.
- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In his great mercy he has given us a new birth to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
- By these he has given us his precious promises, great beyond all price, so that through them you may escape from the corruption with which evil desires have infected the world and thereby may come to share in the divine nature.
- And ‘to love him with all your heart, and with all your understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself,’ is worth more than any burnt offerings and sacrifices.
- See what love
the Father has bestowed on us,
enabling us to be called the children of God,
and that is what we are.
If the world does not recognize us,
that is because it did not know him. - Just as you do not know the path of the wind
or how the body is formed in a woman’s womb,
so you do not know the work of God,
the Creator of all. - Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of your opportunity. Let your speech always be gracious and seasoned with wisdom, so that you will know how to respond properly to all.
- Hear, O Israel, the Lord, our God, is Lord alone. You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
- I intend to prove the holiness of my great name which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. Thus, the nations will know that I am the Lord, says the Lord God, when through you I will display my holiness in their sight.
- Therefore, the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials and to hold the wicked for punishment until the Day of Judgment.
- You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.
- Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that weighs us down and the sins that so easily distract us and with perseverance run the race that lies ahead of us.
- Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not treat them harshly.
- May the God of peace—who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant— make you perfect in every respect so that you may do his will. And may he enable us to achieve what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
- Love is patient;
love is charitable.
Love is not envious;
it does not have an inflated opinion of itself;
it is not filled with its own importance.
Love is never rude;
it does not seek its own advantage.
It is not prone to anger;
neither does it brood over setbacks. - The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.
- It is better to acquire wisdom rather than gold,
and more desirable to acquire understanding rather than silver. - A man is joyful when he utters apt answers,
and even more satisfying is a word in season. - Therefore, whoever breaks even one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be considered least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever observes these commandments and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
- This is my commandment:
love one another
as I have loved you. - Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
- If you love me,
you will keep my commandments.
