  • In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
  • Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
  • For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
