| So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. | We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. |
| And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth. | And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. |
