Chinese (traditional)- What then should we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet, if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
- You shall be holy to me; for I the Lord am holy, and I have separated you from the other peoples to be mine.
- As they came from their mother's womb, so they shall go again, naked as they came; they shall take nothing for their toil, which they may carry away with their hands.
- Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.
- This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful.
- All this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
“Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall name him Emmanuel,”
which means, “God is with us.” - Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long. - When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be charged with any related duty. He shall be free at home one year, to be happy with the wife whom he has married.
- When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you. - If you follow my statutes and keep my commandments and observe them faithfully, I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
- You shall keep my sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord.
- Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
- For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
- But for you who revere my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.
- The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.
- Six days shall work be done; but the seventh day is a sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no work: it is a sabbath to the Lord throughout your settlements.
- The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters. - You shall worship the Lord your God, and I will bless your bread and your water; and I will take sickness away from among you.
- I keep the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. - He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken. - I shall walk at liberty,
for I have sought your precepts. - You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
- He said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
- What then? Should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!
- Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and just as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. Only, you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.Next verse!With image
