- Speak out for those who cannot speak,
for the rights of all the destitute. - And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as it had upon us at the beginning.

- For the customs of the peoples are false:
a tree from the forest is cut down,
and worked with an ax by the hands of an artisan;
people deck it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.
Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field,
and they cannot speak;
they have to be carried,
for they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they cannot do evil,
nor is it in them to do good. - Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right,
and speak the truth from their heart;
who do not slander with their tongue,
and do no evil to their friends,
nor take up a reproach against their neighbors. - Come to a sober and right mind, and sin no more; for some people have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
- Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in agreement and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same purpose.
- I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth. - God is not a human being, that he should lie,
or a mortal, that he should change his mind.
Has he promised, and will he not do it?
Has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? - Those who guard their mouths preserve their lives;
those who open wide their lips come to ruin. - The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse. - But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.
- The heavens are telling the glory of God;
and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours forth speech,
and night to night declares knowledge. - Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands and call on your name. - When they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.
