- For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts. - How much better is it to get wisdom than gold!
and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! - A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches,
and loving favour rather than silver and gold. - He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty;
and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. - Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
- It is better to trust in the Lord
than to put confidence in man. - For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand.
I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God,
than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. - I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
- Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
- Better is a little with righteousness
than great revenues without right. - Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
- The desire of a man is his kindness:
and a poor man is better than a liar. - Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
- To do justice and judgment
is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. - Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
- Better is little with the fear of the Lord
than great treasure and trouble therewith. - Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
- How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
- A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly:
and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. - And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
- Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
- Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
- Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips;
I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. - Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
- Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.Personal Bible reading plan
