You have called me into your kingdom (4/4)

  • Seek good, and not evil,
    that you may live;
    and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you,
    as you have said.
  • For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
  • For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
  • For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
  • And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
  • Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
  • Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
  • Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you.
  • And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.”
  • And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
  • I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.
  • Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
  • You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
  • But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.
  • And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”
  • I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.
  • But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
  • He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
  • His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.
  • And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.
  • Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.
  • He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
  • I was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for me;
    I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me.
    I said, “Here I am, here I am,”
    to a nation that was not called by my name.
  • Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
  • And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’
