Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.فِي اللِّسَانِ حَيَاةٌ أَوْ مَوْتٌ، وَالْمُوْلَعُونَ بِاسْتِخْدَامِهِ يَتَحَمَّلُونَ الْعَوَاقِبَ.
The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.إِنَّ الإِنْسَانَ الصَّالِحَ، مِنْ كَنْزِهِ الصَّالِحِ فِي قَلْبِهِ يُطْلِعُ مَا هُوَ صَالِحٌ. أَمَّا الشِّرِّيرُ، فَمِنْ كَنْزِهِ الشِّرِّيرِ يُطْلِعُ مَا هُوَ شِرِّيرٌ: لأَنَّهُ مِنْ فَيْضِ الْقَلْبِ يَتَكَلَّمُ فَمُهُ.
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.لَا تَخْرُجْ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِكُمْ كَلِمَةٌ فَاسِدَةٌ، بَلِ الْكَلامُ الصَّالِحُ لِلْبُنْيَانِ الَّذِي تَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ الْحَاجَةُ، كَيْ يُعْطِيَ السَّامِعِينَ نِعْمَةً.
Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.مَنْ ضَبَطَ لِسَانَهُ صَانَ حَيَاتَهُ، وَمَنْ فَغَرَ فَاهُ مُتَهَوِّراً بِكَلامِهِ، فَمَصِيرُهُ الدَّمَارُ.
Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.لَا تُبَادِلُوا الشَّرَّ بِشَرٍّ، وَلا الشَّتِيمَةَ بِشَتِيمَةٍ. بَلْ بِالْعَكْسِ: بَارِكُوا، فَتَرِثُوا الْبَرَكَةَ، لأَنَّهُ لِهَذَا دَعَاكُمُ اللهُ.
A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.اللِّسَانُ السَّلِيمُ يُنْعِشُ كَشَجَرَةِ حَيَاةٍ، وَاعْوِجَاجُهُ يُؤَدِّي إِلَى انْكِسَارِ الرُّوحِ.
Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.حَتَّى الْجَاهِلُ، إِنْ صَمَتَ، يُحْسَبُ حَكِيماً، وَإِنْ أَطْبَقَ شَفَتَيْهِ يُحْسَبُ عَاقِلاً.
I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak.عَلَى أَنِّي أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنَّ كُلَّ كَلِمَةٍ بَاطِلَةٍ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِها النَّاسُ، سَوْفَ يُؤَدُّونَ عَنْهَا الْحِسَابَ فِي يَوْمِ الدَّيْنُونَةِ.
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.لِذَلِكَ، يَا إِخْوَتِي الأَحِبَّاءَ، عَلَى كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَكُونَ مُسْرِعاً إِلَى الإِصْغَاءِ، غَيْرَ مُتَسَرِّعٍ فِي الْكَلامِ، بَطِيءَ الْغَضَبِ.
Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute.افْتَحْ فَمَكَ مُدَافِعاً عَنِ الأَخْرَسِ، وَفِي دَعْوَى كُلِّ مَنْبُوذٍ.
When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.فِي كَثْرَةِ الْكَلامِ زَلّاتُ لِسَانٍ، وَمَنْ يَضْبِطُ شَفَتَيْهِ فَهُوَ عَاقِلٌ.
To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is!الْجَوَابُ الْمُلائِمُ يُفَرِّحُ الإِنْسَانَ، وَمَا أَحْسَنَ الْكَلِمَةَ فِي حِينِهَا.
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.أَيُّهَا الأَوْلادُ الصِّغَارُ، لَا يَجِبُ أَنْ تَكُونَ مَحَبَّتُنَا مُجَرَّدَ ادِّعَاءَ بِالْكَلامِ وَاللِّسَانِ، بَلْ تَكُونَ مَحَبَّةً عَمَلِيَّةً حَقَّةً.
A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.الْجَوَابُ اللَّيِّنُ يُبَدِّدُ الْغَضَبَ، وَالْكَلِمَةُ الْقَارِصَةُ تُهَيِّجُ السَّخَطَ.
Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.الْوَاشِي يُفْشِي السِّرَّ، وَالأَمِينُ النَّفْسِ يَكْتُمُهُ.
For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.فَإِنَّنَا جَمِيعاً مُعَرَّضُونَ لِلْوُقُوعِ فِي أَخْطَاءَ كَثِيرَةٍ. وَلَكِنَّ مَنْ يُلْجِمُ لِسَانَهُ وَلا يُخْطِئُ فِي كَلامِهِ هُوَ نَاضِجٌ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يُسَيْطِرَ عَلَى طَبِيعَتِهِ سَيْطَرَةً تَامَّةً.
The words of a wise man's mouth win him favor, but the lips of a fool consume him.كَلِمَاتُ فَمِ الرَّجُلِ الْحَكِيمِ مُفْعَمَةٌ بِالنِّعْمَةِ، أَمَّا أَقْوَالُ شَفَتَيِ الأَحْمَقِ فَتَبْتَلِعُهُ.
If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.إِنْ أَخْطَأَ إِلَيْكَ أَخُوكَ، فَاذْهَبْ إِلَيْهِ وَعَاتِبْهُ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَلَى انْفِرَادٍ. فَإِذَا سَمِعَ لَكَ، تَكُونُ قَدْ رَبِحْتَ أَخَاكَ.
My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day.لِيَمْتَلِئْ فَمِي مِنْ تَسْبِيحِكَ وَمِنْ تَمْجِيدِكَ طُولَ النَّهَارِ.
Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.لِذَلِكَ كُلُّ مَا قُلْتُمُوهُ فِي الظَّلامِ سَوْفَ يُسْمَعُ فِي النُّورِ، وَمَا تَحَدَّثْتُمْ بِهِ هَمْساً فِي الْغُرَفِ الدَّاخِلِيَّةِ سَوْفَ يُذَاعُ عَلَى سُطُوحِ الْبُيُوتِ.
And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.وَعِنْدَمَا تُصَلُّونَ، لَا تُكَرِّرُوا كَلاماً فَارِغاً كَمَا يَفْعَلُ الْوَثَنِيُّونَ، ظَنّاً مِنْهُمْ أَنَّهُ بِالإِكْثَارِ مِنَ الْكَلامِ، يُسْتَجَابُ لَهُمْ.
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.وَكَذلِكَ الرُّوحُ أَيْضاً يُمِدُّنَا بِالْعَوْنِ لِنَقْهَرَ ضَعْفَنَا. فَإِنَّنَا لَا نَعْلَمُ مَا يَجِبُ أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ لأَجْلِهِ كَمَا يَلِيقُ، وَلَكِنَّ الرُّوحَ نَفْسَهُ يُؤَدِّي الشَّفَاعَةَ عَنَّا بِأَنَّاتٍ تَفُوقُ التَّعْبِيرَ.
Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.تُخْفِقُ الْمَقَاصِدُ مِنْ غَيْرِ مَشُورَةٍ، وَتُفْلِحُ بِكَثْرَةِ الْمُشِيرِينَ.
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.أَنَّكَ إِنِ اعْتَرَفْتَ بِفَمِكَ بِيَسُوعَ رَبّاً، وَآمَنْتَ فِي قَلْبِكَ بِأَنَّ اللهَ أَقَامَهُ مِنَ الأَمْوَاتِ، نِلْتَ الْخَلاصَ.
Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!قَدِّمُوا الشُّكْرَ لِلرَّبِّ. ادْعُوا بِاسْمِهِ. عَرِّفُوا بِأَعْمَالِهِ بَيْنَ الشُّعُوبِ.

From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.وَهكَذَا، تَخْرُجُ الْبَرَكَاتُ وَاللَّعَنَاتُ مِنَ الْفَمِ الْوَاحِدِ. وَهَذَا، يَا إِخْوَتِي، يَجِبُ أَلا يَحْدُثَ أَبَداً!
