- Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.
- Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.
- Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
- You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
- Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy. - In my distress I called to the Lord;
I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice;
my cry came before him, into his ears. - I have not departed from the commands of his lips;
I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread. - By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth. - For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
- I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips. - Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool—
how much worse lying lips to a ruler! - They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
- The Lord detests lying lips,
but he delights in people who are trustworthy. - I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. - And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
- You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
- If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.
- In that day you will say:
“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done,
and proclaim that his name is exalted.” - I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?’
- You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.
- After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
- All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
- Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” - But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.
- The words of a gossip are like choice morsels;
they go down to the inmost parts.
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.Next verse!With image
