- And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
- Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones. - Oh, give thanks to the Lord!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples! - So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. - A fool has no delight in understanding,
But in expressing his own heart. - Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips
And from a deceitful tongue. - The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor,
But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered. - Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. - A fool’s lips enter into contention,
And his mouth calls for blows. - In all labor there is profit,
But idle chatter leads only to poverty. - Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
- Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,
But a good word makes it glad. - The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse. - And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
- Keep your tongue from evil,
And your lips from speaking deceit. - Put away from you a deceitful mouth,
And put perverse lips far from you. - It is honorable for a man to stop striving,
Since any fool can start a quarrel. - And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
- For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. - The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
The heart of the wicked is worth little. - When I kept silent, my bones grew old
Through my groaning all the day long. - Whoever hides hatred has lying lips,
And whoever spreads slander is a fool. - So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done.”
- Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked. - If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.
