Bible Verses about Wisdom

  • For the Lord grants wisdom!
    From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
  • So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.
  • If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
  • But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.
  • How much better to get wisdom than gold,
    and good judgment than silver!
  • Don’t long for “the good old days.”
    This is not wise.
  • Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.
  • Pride leads to conflict;
    those who take advice are wise.
  • To acquire wisdom is to love yourself;
    people who cherish understanding will prosper.
  • Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.
  • Those who control their tongue will have a long life;
    opening your mouth can ruin everything.
  • If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.
  • Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.
  • Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
    so that we may grow in wisdom.
  • Pride leads to disgrace,
    but with humility comes wisdom.
  • Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom;
    humility precedes honor.
  • For whoever finds me finds life
    and receives favor from the Lord.
  • “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
    “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.”
  • Fools have no interest in understanding;
    they only want to air their own opinions.
  • Asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.
  • The wise are glad to be instructed,
    but babbling fools fall flat on their faces.
  • Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!
    And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.
  • The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is a wonderful teacher,
    and he gives the farmer great wisdom.
  • Have you never heard?
    Have you never understood?
    The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of all the earth.
    He never grows weak or weary.
    No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
  • I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors,
    for you have given me wisdom and strength.
    You have told me what we asked of you
    and revealed to us what the king demanded.

Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent;
with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent.
