in your righteousness deliver me. - He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
- Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.
- “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
- Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another; do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.
- The Lord is just in all his ways,
and kind in all his doings. - You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid.
- Do not envy the violent
and do not choose any of their ways;
for the perverse are an abomination to the Lord,
but the upright are in his confidence. - Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for him. - Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. - For just as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.
- Then Peter began to speak to them: “I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.”
- He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
he is a shield to those who walk blamelessly. - Hear my prayer, O Lord;
give ear to my supplications in your faithfulness;
answer me in your righteousness. - Happy are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of the Lord. - Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way. - Give justice to the weak and the orphan;
maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute. - But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating. From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.
- Train children in the right way,
and when old, they will not stray. - We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.
