1 Timothy - NLT & NRSV

But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.
After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. For we brought nothing into the world, so that we can take nothing out of it; but if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.
But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. But those who want to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers. And whoever does not provide for relatives, and especially for family members, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life, to which you were called and for which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains.
For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human.
Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.Of course, there is great gain in godliness combined with contentment.
Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. As for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty, or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but rather on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
