| Also that the women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing, not with their hair braided, or with gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, but with good works, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God. | In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. |
| Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done. | Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. |

| All these were constantly devoting themselves to prayer, together with certain women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as his brothers. | These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. |

| In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. | So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. |
| You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder. | Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. |
| If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. | And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. |
| But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated. | But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled. |
| He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. | He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. |

| Yet even now, says the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. | Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning. |
| But fornication and impurity of any kind, or greed, must not even be mentioned among you, as is proper among saints. | But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints. |
| The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. | The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. |
| Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly. | And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. |
| Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. | And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. |
| Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. | Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. |
| And whenever you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so as to show others that they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. | Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. |
