| Now Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended, He was hungry. | Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, where he was tempted by the devil. During that time he ate nothing, and at the end of it he was famished. |
| Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he? | Can anyone withhold the water of baptism from these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have? |

| For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. | However, God has revealed these things to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit explores everything, even the depths of God. |

Encouraged by the Holy Spirit, the Church grew in numbers. |
| If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments so as to carry them out, then I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will bear their fruit. | Follow my statutes and keep my commandments and obey them. Then I will give you rain in its proper season and the yield of the land shall increase and the trees of the field shall bear their fruit. |
