| But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. | He will again have compassion on us. He will tread our iniquities under foot. You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. | Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean! |
| And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. | He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world. |
| As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. | He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. |
| But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. | But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. | We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. |
