- And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.

O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. - A fool's lips walk into a fight,
and his mouth invites a beating. - In all toil there is profit,
but mere talk tends only to poverty. - If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
- Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down,
but a good word makes him glad. - The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
but the mouth of the wicked, what is perverse. - Keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from speaking deceit. - And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
- Put away from you crooked speech,
and put devious talk far from you. - It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife,
but every fool will be quarreling. - Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.
- Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. - The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
the heart of the wicked is of little worth. - For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long. - If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.
- The one who conceals hatred has lying lips,
and whoever utters slander is a fool. - Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. - But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.
