| For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it passes by, Or like a watch in the night. | For you, a thousand years are as a passing day, as brief as a few night hours. |

| Knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. | For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. | What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? Far from it! | Do not lie to one another, since you stripped off the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self, which is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created it. | Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. |
| Let’s examine and search out our ways, And let’s return to the Lord. | Instead, let us test and examine our ways. Let us turn back to the Lord. |
