| See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. | See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good for one another and for all. |
| Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. | Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me. |
| Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword. | Don’t think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn’t come to send peace, but a sword. |
| Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. | I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living. |
| Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven. And everyone will see him— even those who pierced him. And all the nations of the world will mourn for him. Yes! Amen! | Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, including those who pierced him. All the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. Even so, Amen. |
| Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come. | For bodily exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, having the promise of the life which is now and of that which is to come. |

| Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. | Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. | Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all! In your hand is power and might! It is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all! |
| “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!” | And saying, “The time is fulfilled, and God’s Kingdom is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News.” |
