| “Don’t you understand either?” he asked. “Can’t you see that the food you put into your body cannot defile you? Food doesn’t go into your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.” (By saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in God’s eyes.) | So He said to them, “Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods?” |

For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. | Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. |
| Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only later counting the cost. | It is a snare for a man to devote rashly something as holy, And afterward to reconsider his vows. |
| Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all. | Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. |
| So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law. | Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. |
