| People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray. | He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth. |
| Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! | What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. |
| “Don’t you understand either?” he asked. “Can’t you see that the food you put into your body cannot defile you? Food doesn’t go into your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.” (By saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in God’s eyes.) | And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? | You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name. | Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. |
| Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? | What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? |
| So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. | If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. |
