And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed.

Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude and mock you, and throw out your name as evil, for the Son of Man’s sake.
But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.But I tell you who hear: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you.
Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back.Give to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again.
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful.
Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.Don’t judge, and you won’t be judged. Don’t condemn, and you won’t be condemned. Set free, and you will be set free.
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.

But Jesus on hearing this answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.”But Jesus hearing it, answered him, “Don’t be afraid. Only believe, and she will be healed.”
And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing over them. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And they all ate and were satisfied. And what was left over was picked up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to the sky, he blessed them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. They ate and were all filled. They gathered up twelve baskets of broken pieces that were left over.
And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”
For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake will save it.
And said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great.”And said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me. Whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For whoever is least among you all, this one will be great.”
Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘God’s Kingdom has come near to you.’
Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?
But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”But he said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”
Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.
Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.Aren’t five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God. But the very hairs of your head are all counted. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.
