I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. | These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. |
You need to be steadfast if you want to do the will of God and receive what he has promised. | For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. |

Like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may advance on the path to salvation. | And like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation. |

Nor would someone light a lamp and then put it under a basket; rather, it is placed upon a lampstand so that it may afford light to all in the house. In the same way, your light must shine so that it can be seen by others; this will enable them to observe your good works and give praise to your Father in heaven. | Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. |
Prepare in advance what you want to say, and return to the Lord. Say to him, “Take away all guilt and give us what is good, so that we may present as offerings the bullocks from our stalls.” | Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to Him, “Take away all guilt And receive us graciously, So that we may present the fruit of our lips.” |
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. | These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. |
In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. The man who loves his wife loves himself. | So husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. |
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may grow rich in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. | Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. |
Those who live according to the flesh can never be pleasing to God. | And those who are in the flesh cannot please God. |
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. | So if I, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. |
God’s love was revealed to us in this way: God sent his only-begotten Son into the world so that we might have life through him. | By this the love of God was revealed in us, that God has sent His only Son into the world so that we may live through Him. |
