Whatsoever (3/4)

I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
What is desired in a man is steadfast love, and a poor man is better than a liar. What a person desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
But test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. But test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward.Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.
He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.
What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done.Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.
When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow. When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow.
And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do.Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.
But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the Lord! But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’
When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes?As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owners except to feast their eyes on them?
Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.
But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.
