For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, “Abba! You shall not oppress any widow or orphan. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it. He will bring out your righteousness as the light, And your judgment as the noonday. | Commit your way to Yahweh. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose trust is the Lord. For he will be like a tree planted by the water That extends its roots by a stream, And does not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought, Nor cease to yield fruit. | Blessed is the man who trusts in Yahweh, and whose confidence is in Yahweh. For he will be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be concerned in the year of drought. It won’t cease from yielding fruit. |
And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his arms. And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’ | In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom. Yet I have been the Lord your God Since the land of Egypt; And you were not to know any god except Me, For there is no savior besides Me. | Yet I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall acknowledge no god but me, and besides me there is no savior. |
For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. | For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. |
Open your mouth, judge righteously, And defend the rights of the poor and needy. | Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy. |
The Lord is near to all who call on Him, To all who call on Him in truth. | Yahweh is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. |
Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from a trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment. | Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment. |
Open your mouth for the people who cannot speak, For the rights of all the unfortunate. | Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate. |
Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Stop doing evil. | Wash yourselves. Make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil. |
