| This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. | For from the beginning you have heard the message that we should love one another. |
| So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. | Therefore, a Sabbath rest still remains for the people of God, since those who enter into God’s rest also cease from their own labors as God did from his. |
| I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. | I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I do ask you to protect them from the evil one. |

| The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. | If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then the one who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you. |
| Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. | Have mercy on me, O God, in accord with your kindness; in your abundant compassion wipe away my offenses. Wash me completely from my guilt, and cleanse me from my sin. |
| I never shrank back from telling you what you needed to hear, either publicly or in your homes. | I did not hesitate to tell you what was for your benefit as I proclaimed the word to you and taught you publicly as well as from house to house. |
| I said to the Lord, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” | I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” |
| Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. | Do not withhold kindness from anyone to whom it is due when it is in your power to grant it. |
| May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. | Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
| So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless. | Banish grief from your heart and ignore the sufferings of your body, for youth and the prime of life are fleeting. |
| Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. | In God alone be at rest, O my soul; it is from him that my hope comes. |
| And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” | And a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” |
| But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth. | The face of the Lord is turned against those who do evil, to erase all memory of them from the earth. |
| From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” | From that day forward Jesus began to proclaim the message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand.” |
| Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. | And if then my people who bear my name humble themselves and pray to me and seek my presence as they turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them from heaven and forgive their sins and restore their land. |
| So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. | Let what you heard from the beginning remain in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, then you will remain in the Son and in the Father. |
| But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. | However, the Lord is faithful. He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. |
| If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! | If you know me, then you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him. You have seen him. |
| Yes, I came from the Father into the world, and now I will leave the world and return to the Father. | I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and returning to the Father. |
| But Lord, you remain the same forever! Your throne continues from generation to generation. | But you, O Lord, reign forever; your throne endures from age to age. |
| The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever. | The Lord will protect you against all evil; he will watch over your life. The Lord will watch over your coming and your going both now and forevermore. |
| And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. | She will give birth to a son, and you shall name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. |
| You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh. | O Lord, all my longing is known to you, and my sighs are not hidden from you. |
| For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. | You are a place of refuge for me; you preserve me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah |
