Guide your heart (2/4)

But be sure to fear the Lord and faithfully serve him. Think of all the wonderful things he has done for you.Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with your whole heart, considering the great things he has done for you.
A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart.
Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good. Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son.
But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the Lord your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul.Take heed to follow the commandments and the laws that Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave you: to love the Lord, your God, and to walk in his ways and to observe his commandments, holding fast to him and serving him with all your heart and all your soul.
For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. For one believes in the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed.May he give you your heart’s desire and grant you success in all your plans.
Do not nurse hatred in your heart for any of your relatives. Confront people directly so you will not be held guilty for their sin. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord. You shall not hate your brother in your heart, nor shall you rebuke your brother in any way, lest you bear sin because of him. You shall not seek vengeance nor bear a grudge against the children of your people. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless.Banish grief from your heart and ignore the sufferings of your body, for youth and the prime of life are fleeting.
“All right then,” Joshua said, “destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”He continued, “Then put away the foreign gods from among you. Bend your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.May the Lord guide your hearts to the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ.
Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.Do not let your hearts be troubled. You place your trust in God. Trust also in me.
You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”Each person should give as much as he has decided in his heart, not with reluctance or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good. And so now, O Israel, what does the Lord, your God, require of you but to fear the Lord, your God, to walk in all of his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and to observe the commandments and the statutes that I am giving you today for your own good.
I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart. To do your will, O God, is my delight; your law is in my heart.
Then Peter said, “Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself. The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us but to God!”Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.”
I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.I treasure your word in my heart for fear that I may sin against you.
I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be accomplished for him.
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.Even should my heart and my flesh fail, God is the rock of my heart and my portion forever.
Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.Teach me your ways, O Lord, so that I may walk in your truth; let me worship your name with an undivided heart.
“Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.Rend your hearts and not your garments, and turn back to the Lord, your God. For he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, rich in kindness, and always prepared to relent from punishing.
So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this!Go forth, then. Eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a cheerful heart, for God long ago approved what you do.
Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.Guide me in your truth and instruct me, for you are God, my Savior, and in you I hope all the day long.
I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled; be not afraid.
And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.You shall keep these things that I command you today in your heart. Teach them to your children. You shall talk of them when you are sitting in your home, and when you are walking along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a resolute spirit within me.

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart places its trust in him. He has helped me, and I exult; then with my song I praise him.

All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:
“Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel,
