Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” | So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” |
Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.” | Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” |
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. | In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. |
God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. | All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. |
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. | And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. |
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. | But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. |
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. | And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. |
No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us. | No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. |
I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ | I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ |
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” | Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” |
Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.” | Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” |
Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. | That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. |
For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. | For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. |
God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. | For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. |
There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. | He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. |
But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants. | But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God. |
He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. | He must increase, but I must decrease. |
And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment. | He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. |
But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life. | But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life. |
For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. | God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. |
But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval. | Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him. |
Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.” | Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” |
Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” | And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” |
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh. | I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world. |
Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. | He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. |
