| By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. | By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. |

| My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. | Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. |
| Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. | My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples. |
| Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. | Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.” |
| He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. | Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. |
| Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. | God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God. |
| Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. | Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” |
| And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. | And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
| Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. | Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” |
| Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? | Who is it that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? |
| For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. | For this is the message you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. |
| And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. | The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. |
| Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. | By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. |
| And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. | And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment. |
| And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. |
| Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? | Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” |
| These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. | I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. |
| Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. | Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little while longer, and then I am going to him who sent me.” |
| If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. | So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. |
| And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. | And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. |
| And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. | And the world and its desire are passing away, but those who do the will of God live forever. |
| Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. | Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” |
| I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. | I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. |
| Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. | Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete. |
