Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. |
| For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. | A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother. | A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother. |
| Now this is what the Lord says to the family of Israel: “Come back to me and live!” | For Yahweh says to the house of Israel: “Seek me, and you will live.” |
| Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed. | Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. |
