| Do not forsake your friend or the friend of your parent; do not go to the house of your kindred in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is nearby than kindred who are far away. | Don’t forsake your friend and your father’s friend. Don’t go to your brother’s house in the day of your disaster. A neighbor who is near is better than a distant brother. |
| Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall through such disobedience as theirs. | Let’s therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience. |

| Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one. | But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one. |
| So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. | Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up. |
| Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions of them to those for whom nothing is prepared, for this day is holy to our Lord; and do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” | Then he said to them, “Go your way. | A highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Holy Way; the unclean shall not travel on it, but it shall be for God's people; no traveler, not even fools, shall go astray. | A highway will be there, a road, and it will be called “The Holy Way”. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it will be for those who walk in the Way. Wicked fools shall not go there. |
| You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger. | So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. |
