Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit.
The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil; for it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.
Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear.Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Those who guard their mouths preserve their lives; those who open wide their lips come to ruin.He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing. It is for this that you were called—that you might inherit a blessing. Not rendering evil for evil or insult for insult; but instead blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.
A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.
I tell you, on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter.I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
Even fools who keep silent are considered wise; when they close their lips, they are deemed intelligent.Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is counted wise. When he shuts his lips, he is thought to be discerning.
When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but the prudent are restrained in speech. In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.
You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger. So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.
Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute.Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate.
To make an apt answer is a joy to anyone, and a word in season, how good it is!Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time!
A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.
For all of us make many mistakes. Anyone who makes no mistakes in speaking is perfect, able to keep the whole body in check with a bridle. For we all stumble in many things. Anyone who doesn’t stumble in word is a perfect person, able to bridle the whole body also.
Words spoken by the wise bring them favor, but the lips of fools consume them. The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but a fool is swallowed by his own lips.
A gossip goes about telling secrets, but one who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a confidence. One who brings gossip betrays a confidence, but one who is of a trustworthy spirit is one who keeps a secret.
From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this ought not to be so.Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all day long.My mouth shall be filled with your praise, with your honor all day long.
If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one.If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother.
Therefore whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed from the housetops. Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Without counsel, plans go wrong, but with many advisers they succeed.Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established.
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.

When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. In praying, don’t use vain repetitions as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
