It is a snare for one to say rashly, “It is holy,” and begin to reflect only after making a vow.Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only later counting the cost.
All deeds are right in the sight of the doer, but the Lord weighs the heart.People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart.
To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices.

The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life.
Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.
Do not wear yourself out to get rich; be wise enough to desist.Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit.
When your eyes light upon it, it is gone; for suddenly it takes wings to itself, flying like an eagle toward heaven.In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.

The clever see danger and hide; but the simple go on, and suffer for it.A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.
Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens the wits of another.As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.
Just as water reflects the face, so one human heart reflects another.As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.
When one will not listen to the law, even one's prayers are an abomination.God detests the prayers of a person who ignores the law.
No one who conceals transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.
A fool gives full vent to anger, but the wise quietly holds it back.Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.
A person's pride will bring humiliation, but one who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.Pride ends in humiliation, while humility brings honor.
The fear of others lays a snare, but one who trusts in the Lord is secure.Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.
Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.

Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that I need.First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.
