Bible Verses about the Neighbor

  • The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.
  • Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind.
  • Do not seek your own advantage, but that of the other.
  • Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.
  • Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
  • Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.
  • For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
  • In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.
  • Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.
  • Each of us must please our neighbor for the good purpose of building up the neighbor.
  • So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.
  • Let us therefore no longer pass judgment on one another, but resolve instead never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of another.
  • Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
  • I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
  • Learn to do good;
    seek justice,
    rescue the oppressed,
    defend the orphan,
    plead for the widow.
  • Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law.
  • Therefore you have no excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others; for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things.
  • Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.
  • And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we abound in love for you.
  • Love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor.
  • The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet”; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
  • Those who withhold kindness from a friend
forsake the fear of the Almighty.
  • For this is the message you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
  • Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
  • Some judge one day to be better than another, while others judge all days to be alike. Let all be fully convinced in their own minds.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another; do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.
