The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. | The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth. |
For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord. | For whoever finds me finds life, and will obtain favor from Yahweh. |
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. | The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. |
A wise child makes a glad father, but a foolish child is a mother's grief. | A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother. |
