| For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. | Because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. |
| Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. | Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? | Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? | Can anyone withhold the water for baptizing these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have? |

| Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. | Therefore I tell you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. |
| And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. | The angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God.” |
| Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. | Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. |
| And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. | And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment. |
